THE PROGRAM

Center Stage is a 5-week intensive program for outstanding musical theatre students taught by professional staff with years of experience on Broadway, regionally and on theatre & concert stages around the country. Students participate in daily dance, voice, audition preparation and acting classes. Enrollment is limited and acceptance is by audition only.

Former Pineda Conservatory students have been accepted into some of the nation's leading college theatre programs and conservatories and have gone on to appear in professional theatres and opera houses around the country.

AUDITIONS

Audition Dates: March 10, 17 and 18 by appointment only.

Nominated for 7 Tony and 10 Drama Desk awards, Legally Blonde the Musical is based on the 2001 hit movie. There are several lead roles, many featured supporting roles and a large ensemble with substantial stage time. We are seeking strong singing actors as well as strong dancers who sing.

Prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre up-tempo and 16 bars of a musical theatre ballad that show range and acting ability. You may not be asked to sing both. Vocal auditions will be followed by a group movement and dance call. Please bring dance clothing (comfortable clothes and dance shoes/sneakers). You will be given time to change. The audition process will take approximately 2 hours. If necessary, call backs will be scheduled on a later date.

Center Stage 2012 will present 4 performances of the smash Broadway hit, Legally Blonde, and 2 performances of the musical revue, Just Go to the Movies - A Musical Tribute to the Silver Screen, a full-length show written specifically for the Pineda Summer Conservatory Center Stage program.

IMPORTANT POLICIES FOR

PAYMENTS can be made in full or in two (2) installments, the 1st due with your application and the 2nd due on/before May 1, 2011.

Cash, check, and CC accepted. Please note CC payments are subject to an addition $25 processing fee.

REFUNDS will be made (less a $25 administrative fee) if requested by June 1, 2011. For refund requests made after June 1st, 25% will be retained as an operational cost.

No refunds will be granted AFTER June 15, 2011.

REFER a friend and receive $50 off your tuition upon your friend's acceptance and registration in the program.

NOTE: only 1 referral discount permitted per student. The new student MUST note referral on their registration form.

SCHOLARSHIPS are available based on merit and/or financial need. For financial assistance, please submit (1) a letter of recommendation from a teacher and (2) a formal request letter detailing your circumstances. Both letters must accompany your Registration Form in order for consideration.

CHARACTER BREAKDOWN

AMERICAN DREAMS: Casting will be based on your audition. Solos, speaking parts and dance features will be assigned in March. You will receive your music prior to the first day of the program and you will be expected to be off book when you arrive on the first day.
