This is an intensive program for outstanding musical theater students taught by a professional staff with years of experience on the Broadway stage and theaters throughout the world. Students attend daily acting, audition preparation, dance and vocal classes. The Center Stage program culminates in performances of Martin’s and Blane’s MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS and a cabaret show featuring Broadway show tunes, old and new, especially written for the Summer Conservatory. This years program will include special guests artists from the Broadway stage. Students participating in Pineda productions/programs have been accepted into some of the nation's leading college musical theater programs and conservatories and have gone on to appear in professional theaters and opera houses around the country.
THE AUDITION PROCESS:
MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS is a charming show with several roles and a large ensemble. We need strong singers, as well as strong dancers. Prepare 16 bars of a musical theater up-tempo and 16 bars of a musical theater ballad that show range and acting ability. All vocal auditions will be followed by a group movement and dance call. Please bring appropriate clothing (comfortable clothes and dance shoes/sneakers). The audition process will take approximately 2 hours. Call backs may be necessary. Tuition for CENTER STAGE: $895
STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN SPOTLIGHT AS WELL, will only pay an additional $400 for Center Stage. Scholarships awarded based on talent and financial need.
This program offers students daily classes in dance, voice, audition preparation and acting taught by a professional staff with years of experience on the Broadway stage and theaters around the US. The program culminates with a fully staged production of Broadway’s New Musical 13. This show was selected for its great music, multiple role opportunities and has an added ensemble. There is no audition to participate in the program, however parts in the show will be assigned after student evaluations the first week of the program. All students participate in the show. Often, roles are double cast in order to give more students the opportunity to perform. All students leave this program feeling more confident as performers and auditioners. SPACE IS LIMITED. EARLY REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED.
This program is offered to 10 students, on a first come, first served basis, who will be trained in set design, lighting, costuming, production and stage management. This program requires that each student work either Aladdin Jr., 13, Cabaret Night or Meet Me in St. Louis performance dates. Students will gain leadership skills and learn standard stage craft. SPACE IS LIMITED to 10 Students. EARLY REGISTRATION IS ENCOURAGED.
